DO YOU TWITTER? TWEET, TWEET, TWEET...

Andy Warhol once said: "Everyone will have 15 minutes of fame in their lifetime". That the Internet would create some unique methods of personal expression was immediately clear to most of its early adopters. First, there was the Bulletin Board System (BBS) that was used to exchange messages between users, but that was maily a local phenomenon. Next, Internet Forums became the favorite way to express thoughts and show off knowledge on a specific topic. Then, in 1997 Weblogs started to appear. They evolved from online diaries, where people would keep a running account of their personal lives.
In March of 2006, Evan Williams and his colleagues gave life to Twitter. Initially, the platform was used internally to keep colleagues up to speed on projects status updates. Twitter is a social network and micro blogging platform that allows users to answer a very simple question: "What are you doing?" It does so with 140 character messages. On a recent interview, Williams, the co founder of Twitter, commented that Twitter's success is due to the immediateness of its communication. It is not like posting your status update on Facebook and expecting someone to read it, or doing a new blog post. When you twitter you assume that all your readers will have a look at your message: First, because most likely they will receive it on their cell phones and second because it is only 140 characters.
Twitter usage is growing wildly from month to month, and the whole success is based on a very simple question and the immediateness of an SMS message. Perhaps what we should do is ask ourselves some very simple questions and be willing to start side projects!

HOW COMPANIES CAN GET OUT OF CRISIS

The big financial crisis has hit the real economy. The diagnosis and forecasts are still ambiguous and far from clear.
Every company must deal with its own specific problems and face its own risks as they have always done. There are, however, some considerations about mental attitude and short and long term actions in crisis situations that can apply to everyone. There should be optimism in a sense that crisis should be seen as a source of oppportunity and a chance for change.
On the basis of mental attitude, the crisis of 2008 should induce many to go back to do "simple and clear things". This crisis is a result of stratagems which created a lot of confusion in the distribution of roles, risks, responsibility, contributions and remuneration.
In the short term, the high degree of uncertainty suggests first that we cannot longer hesitate with respect to the rationalization of processes and the efficient use of personal, material, and financial resources. This is a general principle of running companies which may become a matter of survival. In crisis situations loose resources are drastically reduced.
Second, it is time to speed up the simplification processes of the corporate, organizational and logistic structures on a global scale. Processes that have already been activated by many companies when they centralized corporate functions according to the logic of global economies. Third, we should look around in order to understand how things are changing for our suppliers, clients and competitors. The crisis may bring up opportunities for instance making aquisitions or draw up strategic agreements that previously seemed more difficult or less interesting. Fourth, now is the time to take advantage of the current fluidity of the job market in order to bring talent and skils into the company which may have been inaccessible before. Additionally there could be favorable circustances to encourage investments in technical and managerial training programs for personnel already employed in the company.
All in all, we should learn from past experience in order to avoid making he same mistakes with consequences that may affect hundreds of million of people.

THE GAP

The gap that each one of is afraid to fall into. The gap of the fear of what is going to happen tomorrow. Despite the celebration and christmas spirit around us these days, many people are being trapped by psychological problems of what is going to happen to their lives during the new year. Others are looking for the job of their dreams, others looking for a love partner, others for luck or glory or wealth.
But who are going to be the lucky ones that are going to get what they want?
The reality is that everything happens for a reason and even if somebody feels like nothing is getting better in his/her life, the universe is still working and it will be working forever to bring us what we really are missing. Just make positive thoughts, visit friends, look up into the sky and make a wish.
For all of us there is space in love, affection, and good things in life. If you believe that you have lost your way to happiness just pray to God to show you a sign to the right direction. He might not show you exacly where to go, but he will for sure give you some signs whether you are following the right way. The reason why you are here into this Earth and what is the purpose of your journey in life. God is inside each one of us. And if you feel this gap inside you he will come to you in your dreams and show you what to do. Do not be afraid of the gap. Each one of us have faced bad moments but after the rain is sun. This goes to all of you who read this post whether you feel happy, sad, insecure, depressed or mad about the world around you. Keep this in mind forever.
If you had a bad day, try to get some exrta sleep, a hot tea, healthy food, exercise, meditate, have a hug with your dog to fight bad feelings, and tomorrow is a new day.
You have to face each day as a new beginning, as a new start that you have to take it from scratch and create as much as you can.
You have to be grateful that you are alive and healthy and ready to face the challenges of each day.
First and foremost you have to feel happy for the happiness of others and then all good things will happen to you.
Never look back and try to look forward and dream about the future.
Beware of the gap metaphorically is something that you do not have to be worry about. If you follow your heart there is no such thing as a gap in your heart and feelings. It is just an illusion of your inner self. That is why you have to be positive and enjoy the simple things in life. Try to multiply the happy moments of your life by laughing out loud and be grateful for the gift of life.
To be miserable is something that when you get old you will regret it.
And life is so short that you will reach an age and you will say:
" I still cannot understand how the hell I reached this age and as I go backwards I didn't have time to do the things I wanted to do"
For the end:
Happy people are people that live a full life of intense feelings".
Remember:
As you grow older the issue is to look back and say:
" I lived the life I wanted to live".

PERFECTION...

Nobody is perfect. Please keep this deeply in your mind. When I was a kid, my parents and tutors used to tell me about my grades at school, my performance on sport activities and my personality. I am sure all of you as a kid have faced such moments.
As I grew older, I learned that striving for reaching a sense of perfection has been a misguided belief in my life which often leading me down the wrong path. It has made me, through the years, place value on the wrong things. It has also made me not listen to my true self for fear that I would somehow fail in another's eyes.
Nowadays, the idea of perfection has become very pervasive in our society. The way it begins, how it hurts us and perhaps, even, if it carries a certain benefit. It is true that the idea of being perfect is a must in our society causing stress and feelings of inadequacy. Many of us worry about scarcity. This thrives in a culture where everyone is hyperaware of lack. Everything from safety and love to money and resources feels restricted or lacking. We spend inordinate amounts of time calculating how much we have, want, and don’t have, and how much everyone else has, needs, and wants.
The greatest casualties of a scarcity culture are our willingness to own our vulnerabilities and our ability to engage with the world from a place of worthiness. It only takes a few seconds before people fill in the blanks with their own version: -Never good enough.-Never perfect enough.-Never thin enough.Never powerful enough.-Never successful enough.-Never smart enough.-Never certain enough.-Never safe enough.-Never extraordinary enough.
To transform scarcity we need to dare greatly; we need to cultivate worthiness, a clear sense of purpose, and we need to re-engage. We must walk into the arena, whatever it may be—a new relationship, an important meeting, our creative process, or a difficult family conversation—with courage and the willingness to engage. Rather than sitting on the sidelines, we must dare to show up and let ourselves be seen.
Accepting the things we cannot change, changing the things we can and having the wisdom to know the difference, we are more down to earth and able to face the difficulties in life. Listening to that inner critic with compassion can be painful but extremely rewarding and fruitful. It is also helpful to this personality to stretch into just trying on the other person's shoes. It takes an open mind and heart and lots of kindhearted practice and patience.
All in all, pefection is not possible. I creates more pain than joy and more confusion than calm. We are tempted to think that if we do more, we will feel less anxious, less insecure and less depressed. Striving toward understanding who we are and why we are who we are might reveal imperfection-- a humanness that is real and surprisingly interesting. It is a revolutionary act to embrace who we are, just as we are.

LIFE...OH LIFE.....

Sometimes in life all of us have made thoughts of how life would be if they have got that job, if they have moved somewhere abroad, if they were married to someone they fell in love with, if they have gone to that party or if they have talked to the person near them that looked so different and so nice. I have caught myself thinking what if I have moved in NYC for job hunting? What if I was still in relationship with my first love? What if I hadn't move from my first job? All of these thoughts come into my mind many times but this is life and I am sure that all of you have already been into that beacause these are human thoughts. However, most of women, because I am one of them, I know that we are doing it, we don't have to think the same thing many times and be miserable.
All of us have a fate and our inner self knows better than no one else what we really want, desire and think. I am not just a fate believer because I think that we are the ones that build our fate through our decisions. Everything new and unknown to us happens all of a sudden without prior arrangement. Someone loses his job, or a woman gets pregnant, or someone gets lost from his/her life.
Talking about myself, what I want to achieve in my life is to get back home after work in an environment that is safe, quiet, secure and peaceful. From now on I need to have this peace of mind, either I am single, married,or divorced with children. And this peace of mind comes from the inside. As I am around my thirties, I feel calm and full of positive thinking. I do not get involved in quarrels and whatever makes me angry or mad I take it away immediately and I am not leaving it heart me. I am strict with something that I love, it might be a relationship or a job or a sport. That is why from my side I am giving my everything but I expect to get the same from the other side. From know on in my life I am ready to feel intense and strong moments as long as they are meant to be for happiness and joy.
Hey God over there, don't you think I deserve it?

REVIVING THE PURPOSE OF LIFE

What counts most in our lives is the moments with family and friends. I have come across with many people through the journey of life so far and the thing that I found in common to all of them was the stress of what is going to happen tomorrow, how they look to the person they have in front of them, I smell the anxiety and hunger and craving that all people have to create something in this world, to leave something behind as they go away of this life, the yearning to be somebody, this selfishness and egoism ( from the greek word egoismos) conquers and dominates all aspects of life, all thoughts of the inner self.
As I lie back in front of the fireplace I am trying to recall the happier time of my life...And it is just moments, single moments through the years with my family, my friends, my pets, my job, my interests, my love, my pain, my desires, my dreams and hopes.
All of us have their ups and downs (as I was decorating the christmas tree today I had instant moments of feeling lonely but at te same time like magic some flashing moments that everything at the end is going to be ok in this manner or the other as we say in greek. It is all about fears of the unknown. But at the bottom of my heart I strongly believe that these moments of happiness are going to be multiplied. And this is the issue. Having this thought in mind, I am planning a trip in late September, in New Delhi and Daramsala, the village of Dalai Lama for some inspiration and meditation.
Dalai Lama's principle stands on the fact that he tutors people to multiple the happy moments. Because this is the purpose of life. He believes that life on earth is like hell with all the pain, mysery, and suffering. Thus, he trains peoples' mind for peacefulness, lull, serenity, and above all peace of mind.

TIPS TO FIGHT LONELINESS AND DEPRESSING FEELINGS DURING YOUR HOLIDAYS...

Christmas holidays are already here! December entered timidly a few days ago with a touch of cold weather, the first decorations, cookies served at the cafes and christmas songs.
Traditionally, all of us spend time with our families and friends and share house gatherings with the fireplace burning and the elderly telling stories. Have you ever thought of people that do not have any relatives, or those who need to work hard during the New Year's Eve?
For those who feel unhappy, depressed, unlucky and lonely, here is a list of ways to fight these negative feelings:
1. Think positive and remember for all of us there is something of better luck at the next corner.
2. Remember that apart from how wealthy someone is the thing that counts is the simplest: A laughter, a patting, a lighting candle, the snow or a kid.
3. Have a walk in the forest or in the park with your dog, just breathing the fresh air.
4. Give hope.
5. Give love as more as you can to people.
6. Be kind and polite and consider the good things that you have at this moment (it might be the gift of good health, or a close friend, or your dog).
7. If you happen to have some relatives that you seldom see during the year, go and visit them.
8. Remember: Say what you feel to the people you love and care about cause there is not a right time, there is just now. Do not let time pass by and be miserable.
9. Smile, smile, smile. 10. Heal your soul and body with positive thinking, some running in the fresh air, a cup of hot tea, and by being thankful that you have the gift of life and nobody will force you to live it as you wish.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

THE FASHION EMPIRE ZARA FIRST THOUGHT TO GIVE THE NAME OF ZORBA TO THE COMPANY AFTER THE 1964 FILM ZORBA THE GREEK

When it came to naming the high street fashion store, Zara was not Amancio Ortega's first choice. When Zara founder Amancio Ortega was searching for a name for his first fashion store in La Coruña back in 1975, he decided upon 'Zorba' after the 1964 film Zorba the Greek. Zara communications director explains to the New York Times: "I don't think they were thinking of making history, just that it was a nice name, but apparently there was a bar that was called the same, Zorba, like two blocks away, and the owner of the bar came and said, 'This is going to confuse things to have two Zorbas.' After this conversation, they just rearranged the letters to see what they could find and they found "Zara". So that's it!
It is true that behind any success or history there is the greek element... So proud of being Greek! For your information, Amancio Ortega last week named by Bloomberg Markets as the third richest person in the world with a net worth of $53.6 billion. Just a comment to my Greek fellows: We, as Greeks, have so much to give if we think positive, go to work with a smile, be hardworking, friendly and offer hospitality. Apart from the cruel news that are spread around the world for our country, Greeks, we have to be united to face the truth.

10 LESSONS I LEARNED THROUGH THE YEARS ABOUT THE FASHION INDUSTRY THAT WILL HELP YOU GET YOUR DREAM JOB

Through the years I have been accustomed to deal with different things, both in the working environment as well as my education, my sports, my style, my friends and my habits. I love change and transition in my life cause I think it is what keeps me alive. I am around my thirties and I have gone into 6 different working environments.
I have attended three different universities for my BA, Msc and MBA. I have get connected with many different personalities of all ages and from different cultures and social backgrounds. Concerning my sports?
I have done ballet to horse back riding and karate to yoga.
I love experimenting with my style that is why I have had my hair cut many times, I have made some innovative patterns on my clothes and I love combining vintage with modern accessories. Below is a list of ten fundamentals through my own experience someone has to keep in mind if he/she wishes to get involved in the fashion industry in order to get a broader sense and high aesthetic view of the world of fashion :
1. GET A PART-TIME JOB.

Many beginners at the university during their 20s are broke. Try to get a part time job as early as possible in addition to the university. Through my own eyes, this is priceless. I used to work at Accessorize Monsoon Greece for as long as I attended college. Not only I had 70 percent discount on the acceessories but I also had human interaction, I learned many things and I had my own pocket money. Moreover, working experience is a prerequisite if someone wishes to pursue a Masters degree in a fashion college. So start NOW!
2. CREATE A BLOG AND TRY TO SOCIALIZE.

The blogosphere is extremely crowded these days so apart from bringing forth your competitive side it can also benefit you. Try to network with other bloggers and this can drive the traffic in the first place.
3. DO NOT LIMIT YOURSELF.

Evolving to any situation is crucial in the fast-paced fashion industry. Try to get involved with many different fields, it might be designing, styling or photography in order to figure out what you like most to dig into in the future. This is the time to find out what fascinates you most. When you learn that, it is about time to excel on it and also to reach your limits! As for me? I love fashion management, viral marketing to fashion based companies, visual merchandising, and fashion photography as a sport.
4. EDIT YOUR WORK.

Whether it is business of blogging, photography, or styling, it is important to only put out work that you feel proud of. Limit the amount of content you release, because there is such a thing as oversaturation. You have to focus on quality rather than quantity and be selective on your decisions. If you publish something try to ask yourself the following questions: “Did it serve the narrative? Is it too long? Most importantly, is it funny?”.
5. FORGE YOUR OWN PATH.

Keep in your mind from the beginning who and what you want to be. If you have a clear picture in your mind, then it is easier to follow it, believe in yourself and leave your signature as you are reaching your goal. Lots of people want to be the next Anna Wintour, but you should try to figure out if there is something different that you can bring to the table that Wintour can’t.
6. DISCIPLINE AND SCHEDULE. Procrastination kills. Literally. It will kill your career and your reputation, so setting up organization for yourself early on will help develop a good habit that will serve you for the rest of your life.
7. SOCIAL MEDIA IS BOTH YOUR FRIEND AND ENEMY. On one hand, you have to avoid being unprofessional and on the other hand, to develop a voice and a brand for yourself. People come back for your voice, not because you give earth shattering information.
8. REMEMBER: ALWAYS KEEP A GOOD ATTITUDE BEACAUSE YOU ARE ALWAYS BEING WATCHED.

Either it is your first job, or you are making a web effort you are always being watched. And your audience (whether it is your employer or your reader) looks for good attitude. Always look to do your job well and think ahead. When I see someone who is a force for darkness in the world I don’t want to be around him because life is already too hard. I admit that I have been through bad attitude due to pressure during young age but it is something that as I grew older, I managed it.

9. BE CULTURLLY AWARE.

Exhibitions, galleries, fashion shows, magazines, books, biographies are a must. You have to follow the flow both in the past, in the present and in the coming years. It is crucial to stay tuned to the world around you. Try to read the newspaper before you go to work in the morning or get connected to the site of Women's Wear Daily for inspiration.
10. TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SLOW DOWN.

Yet, as in all industies there is pressure in the fashion world as well. However, you don't have to rush to this industry. Take a moment, stop and try to see things as a mature person. Try to find something in the industry that you are passionate about and work towards it. Do not panic because alone the world fashion has a stressful connotation. Do not let it consume you. Be professional and hardworking and inevitably you will find success.

GOOD LUCK TO THE FASHION OBSESSED!!
