NOW YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE YOUR JIMMY CHOOS!

What’s better than a pair of luxe high heels? How about having your initials on the soles? Because that's happening.
A few days ago, Jimmy Choo announced that customers will be able to call the shots: from the style, to the heel height, to the material, to even monogramming gold-plated initials on the sole of the shoe. The entire design process is now totally in our hands.
“Women have always had a special relationship with shoes," said Jimmy Choo creative director Sandra Choi. "It starts with the fairytale of the shoe in stories such as Cinderella and stays with us throughout our lives.” Seeing as Cinderella’s shoes came courtesy of a fairy godmother, those joints were most definitely custom made. Now, thankfully, you no longer need a magic wand, only a mouse. Enjoy!

ALEXIS MABILLE-THE NEW HOT ENTRY AT PARIS HAUTE COUTURE FASHION WEEK

Alexis Mabille is a Lyons born, Parisian based fashion designer who is the creative director of his namesake label, Alexis Mabille. After his training at Nina Ricci and Ungaro, Mabille moved to Dior where then-creative director John Galiiano noticed his talent and appointed him to design the 1997 accessories collection for the house. It was a major success, and he collaborated on the men's jewelry collection with Hedi Slimane, who would later go on to head Dior Homme.
He would continue his service at Dior while collaborating with such celebrated fashion houses as Yves Saint Laurent and Lancome. In 2005, he launched his namesake label, his designs at that time unisex. He used the bowtie as his logo, which also showed up in his designs. His collections for Ready to Wear  were lauded across the fashion world, with such people as Karl Lagerfeld and Mick Jagger praising his bowtie collections.  In 2008, Alexis Mabille showed at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week for the first time.

DON'T YOU WISH YOU'D WORN THAT? BEJEWELLED

Practise your hauteur in this extreme bejewelled mood. Allow anyone to get too close and you will make enemies-because you are a snag menace in these encrusted gowns. You could tearba a delicate chiffon, rough up a smooth sil crepe, cause havoc to a man's suit. So stay aloof, cultivate a force field, keep your distance. Or you will become the menace-the kind of woman who ruins a sister's dress by mistake on purpose. Which is where these modern, moody, jewelled frocks become a suit of armour unwittigly architected to protect you from a vengeful elbow. These aren't girlie Barbie sparkles. These are progressive embellishments. The cuts are asymmetrical and jolie laide. The lengths can be calfy and ankle-y- and awkward. The shades are challenging yellows and slightly rancid pastels. Leave the pretty twinkles to the amateurs. This season's jewelled pieces are defiant. And they are also a walking gym-damn heavy.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO BE...BUCKY, VANLLA ICE'S KANGAROO!

Sure, Ice dated Madonna, but that's nothing, baby. I hooked up with a 300-pound pot-bellied pig. Might seem like an old coupling but we really loved hanging out together. And i got a kick out of humping her. What? She never complained. But Ice put a stop to it anyway-he said she was too smelly to keep. I am not sure i'll ever forgive him. Poncho the goat is my best pal nowadays. He's supercool.Once he even managed to headbutt the latch on the gate to Ice's backyard and we escaped for a few weeks. It was crazy. Until Ice saw us on Channel 12 News and demanded we get home pronto. Actually, I did miss Ice. I have lived with him in South Florida since I was only a few weeks old and now I am 13 and five feet tall. My digs are awesome too-a kangaroo mansion where I hop around and play with a football for hours on end. Yeah, I am nimble. No, i'm not good at boxing. Never have been. Though i would love one of those silvery, silky dressing gowns. They are right up my street. But i'd never be able to stay in shape. I eat Kangaroo Chow. A lot. And snack on carrots, apples and bananas if i'm trying to be healthy. Never lasts long. I'd much rather chomp on cream filled vanilla cookies. They are sweet.

PURIST VS HEDONIST

PURIST
FX MAYR & MORE, DELLACH, AUSTRIA
True, with its pine-panelled bedrooms and wonky pool murals, the Mayr can't be described as stylish. But as you dutifully chew, chew, chew your food in the restaurant overlooking misty Lake Worthersee, you will know it is the real deal. Doctors follow the principles of its 19th century founder, Dr FX Mayr: that good health relies on efficient digestion. It is simple but utterly effective. The week long Basic Health Cure Package (consultation, kinesiology test, abdominal treatment, detox wraps) sends you home thin, happy and full of beans.

HEDONIST
CLARINS L'ART DU TOUCHER AT LE ROYAL MONCEAU, PARIS
After lolling in the hotel's cool Philippe Starck-designed rooms, stuffing yourself silly with Pierre Herme macaroons, why not head to the Clarins spa-all diaphanous drapes and the longest pool in Paris, reflected in ornate mirrors-for the L'Art du Toucher tratment. Not only are 90 minutes of full body kneading a glorious pick- me- up, but the probing abdominal work afterwards really gets things , ah, moving. You will feel so perky, you will positevely bounce out. Better yet, you will be ready for round two of the pastry basket.

RESTAURANT PICK!

CHILTERN FIREHOUSE
MODERN AMERICAN
London's burning. Not literally, obviously-no one wants to return to the bad old days of 1666-but at Chiltern Firehouse, cool-cat hotelier Andre Balazs's new venture. In its restaurant's first two months, the impossibility of getting a reservation was matched only by the lack of coherent information on its website. Well, at least it gave you the adress.
Go through the gate, past the doorman and through the enchanted garden-which is going to be heaven on summer nights-and a Brazilian Asthon Kutcher-lookalike greeter laconically opens the door. Inside, an army of jacketed managers and staff is racing around. 'It's all flames and beards here,' says manager David, ex-Scott's, nodding towards the openkitchen as he seats us. And yes, there are flames leaping, and lots of bearded cooks, and headchef Nuno Mendes-lured from his Shoreditch hidey-hole Viajante by Mr Balazs-is sweet and smiling at the stove despite the madness and mayhem.
But you still wouldn't call Firehouse macho. Not with these all-girl tables, Persian rugs on slate-tile floors and people queuing three deep at the bar for a Quick One Before Dinner. The menu is smallish but well  balanced: stake tartare or grilled octopus to start, perhaps followed by roast chicken or slow-roasted short rib. Some of it-the beef fillet with chimichurri, for instance-is great, even though portions, for the money are a little stringy.
But hey-who said this was about the food? The scene at the Firehouse is indisputably the hottest in London. An old ladder shed has been turned into a very desirable coctail bar, and a Narnia-like secret door at the back of the deco-y loos opens onto a smokers'terrace, which is seriously cool (especially if you smoke).

WHERE TO GO...FOR AN EARLY SUMMER JAUNT!

1. VILLA SAN MICHELE-FLORENCE

The decadence on offer in this Rennaissance beauty would have its former residents shaking in their habits, but its days as a monastery are long gone. Sprawling in the Florentine hills, Villa San Michele is surrounded by lawns and geranium-filled terraces the topmost of which has apool with stonking views over the city. Rooms are very elegant, very Italian-all creams and golds, antiquesoriginal frescoes, windows sporting romantically creaky wooden shutters. So let's just recap. High terraces? Check. Irreplaceable furniture? Double check. Not one for the sprogs, then? Well, actually it is. There is a brilliant kids'club, Smile, in the old chappel, where bambini learn to make pizza with the utterly charming Attilio-or they can romp around the hotel's secret gardens, or go on treasure hunts in the city's churches. Even the monks would have approved. (probably).

2. BEDRUTHAN STEPS-MAWGAN PORTH-CORNWALL

Best be honest: from the outside, Bedruthan Steps is a bit Teletubbies-acid-green lawns, circular pools, Crayola-coloured sunloungers. Which is just one reason why your kids will love it. But so will you, and here's why:they've thought of everything. Seriously, everything:two kid's clubs, serfing lessons, outdoor and indoor pools, a pirate ship, a trampoline, every child friendly utensil-known to man -and get ready to punch the air-an indoor soft -play area for rainy days.  With armchairs to sink into the newspapers to actually read! So they' ll be knackered, which is perfect as you can then tuck them up in your retro-chic room and disappear to the terrace bar for coctails and knockout views over Mawgan Porth Beach. And if the little blighters do wake up, a tiny beer -mate- shaped baby listening device will buzz to let you know.

3. THE LODGE-VERBIER

There's something coolly beautiful about the Alpson drizzly summer days, as mists rise and sweep through the valleys. The Lodge chills in the hills of Verbier, overlooking glorious jutting peaks. And, like eveything Branson does it is cheerfully in your face a big beefy chalet on steroids, with seven timber lined rooms and two mammoth suites. Sheltering from the rain is actually fun here-wait it out with a Yon-Ka facial, or hustle your fellow guests at the pool table-and meals taken en masse, are knocked up by chef Darren Burke using ingredients so fresh they could somersault off your plate. But it is on sunny days that the Alps burst into blooming life and the Lodge becomes the perfect pitstop from which to paraglide through the peaks, mountain bike over dirt track trails or hike through fields of flowers, belting "The Hiiiills are alive'at the top of your lungs.

4. MYSTIQUE- OIA, SANTORINI

Oh, the steps! The little cobbled steps that wind up and down this higgledy cliffside, leading to and from the Flintstoney rooms that make up Mystique. Take them slowly-it's easy to trip as your eyes are drawn outwards, over the vast bay, because never have you seen such views of the Aegean.( Helen of Troy used it as her swimming pool, of course.) Rooms have terraces and stone hot tubs from which to survey the sea, all while sipping something the waiters cart your way. Or lie in bed and gaze at the horizon from your small, bright suite-a symphony in cream, which is radical for the picturesque town of Oia, where everything is bright white with the old blue accent. Stagger up the steps to the main strip and weave around to the point to watch the sunset. Or stay put, eating an improbably good dinner at the restaurant or sipping delicious Santorini white wine at the bar with crazy views, and write mini Odyssey.

BLISSFUL BALI!

Bali's five star enclave, Nusa Dua, is home to boutique all-suite hotel The Mulia and its equally exquisite sister property, Mulia Resort & Villas. Stunning landscape, friendly locals and fascinating culture make Bali a magical holiday destination. Those in the know head to Nusa Dua, a particularly enticing spot on the island's southeast coast. Here you will find the Mulia, a a sleek, contemporary boutique retreat with 111 suites replete with cavernous bedrooms and outdoor Jacuzzis. The latter offer views of the vast pool, decorated with Balinese sculptures, and the infinity pool that seamlessly flows to the beach, where you will find an incredible kilometre of swimmable sea framed by soft yellow sand. Peel yourself away to explore the Mulia Spa's comprehensive treatment menu, which features restorative Balinese, Asian and Western treatments, as well as Asia-Pacific's first Ice Room. Designed to complement the spa's hot-cold therapy, a spell in the frosty chamber helps stimulate blood circulation, boosting wellbeing. Afterwards, warm up in the Finnish sauna or gently scented Emotional steam room before dining in one of Mulia's four excellent restaurants  on authentic international food. Retreat to your room or take up residence in Mulia Villas, a collection of schecluded and chic abodes that boast vistas of the Indian Ocean in addition to private hydrotherapy swimming pools sunk into lush gardens. Utter blish.

HERE'S LOOKING AT...SAM MCKNIGHT!

Do you want to know why Sam McKnight is the most succesful hair stylist in the world? It is not down to his sharp scissor skills or his way with wigs. It's his voice-deep and rumbling and sultry, with the softest of Scottish lilts.Which is exactly what you want to listen to when you are having your hair fussed over for three hours. Or when you are gettng a steak attached to your head (as he did for Lady Gaga to top off that meat dress). 'We had to shove it on with kirby grips' says Sam, 58. 'It was like a Damien Hirst installation-flies everywhere.' After 37 years in the business, not much shocks him. He's worked on more than Vogue covers, done Kate Moss's hair 'thousands of times' (including for her wedding' and travelled as Diana, Princess of Wales's personal hair stylist for seven years-he was the one who persuaded her to slick back her short crop. Downtime is spent pottering around his flourishing north London garden, where he grows tulips, roses, peonies, rhubarb.. Know why they grow so well? Because of that voice. He talks to them too.
